KEEP FAIRFAX CITY INDEPENDENT

Fairfax is an independent city. Its future should remain in the hands of the people who call it home.

Keep Fairfax City Independent is a local issues-based Virginia political action committee focused on preserving Fairfax City’s independent local government through informed civic participation.

WHY FAIRFAX CITY’S INDEPENDENCE MATTERS

The City of Fairfax became an independent city in 1961. It remains a separate local government from Fairfax County. That distinction affects how residents are represented and how decisions are made about public services, finances, schools, planning, taxation, public safety, and the City’s long-term direction. Fairfax City’s Mayor and City Council members also run as independent candidates rather than as nominees of political parties. Local voters therefore evaluate candidates directly based on their qualifications, records, priorities, and commitment to the City.
